Join educators from around the region to explore the latest trends and developments in providing effective initial and continuing education in our emergency medical services education programs. Leading national education experts will stimulate discussion on: evidenced based practice; skill training - maintaining competence, teaching and texts, concept mapping, creating effective simulations based on learner outcomes, lessons learned from implementing the National Education Standards, teaching critical thinking and assessment, and updates from the State.
A featured program will be a four-hour interactive item writing workshop. This session will provide information on proper item writing practices that allow the instructor to better challenge the student intellectually and more accurately measure student progress.
The afternoon preconference on May 17 will focus on enhancing education through developing clinical reasoning and clinical judgment skills. This topic is especially relevant to today's focus on developing and evaluating competency in both the initial education setting and the continuing education arena.
